Buy a sim card her rather then at vodacom. Better service at cheaper rates.

Very helpful upon arriving into SA and not having service. Helped me select what I needed and then when I had issues and needed a change, he helped me make it happen. Not the friendliest man in the world, but very helpful and knowledgeable. Service has been great during my stay in SA.

Quick service, fast and easy to get a sim card. Only issues, the credit card machine didn't work and i had to get some cash.

We traveled from the US to South Africa and spent a week in Kruger. Getting a SIM card at the MTN store at O. R. Tambo was the best decision we made. Good rates and great coverage, which came in handy when we got lost our first night driving our rental car from the airport. We stopped at a gas station, turned on the phone, and had GPS navigation to the hotel. Pro tip: Throw an old phone in your carryon and use that for your South Africa sim card. Staff at the store will insert the card for you and ask them to call you, too, to test it. You'll have an unfamiliar number to friends and family back home, so let them know beforehand that they may see an unusual SA number calling or texting them.
